Got a concept that doesn't fit a standard category? Good. We've built food trailers for concepts nobody had built before, and we'd love to hear yours.
Why Serious Food Entrepreneurs Choose Quality Trailers
Built in the USA, in Our Own Facility Not assembled from outsourced components. Not a reseller putting their name on someone else’s product. Every Quality Trailer is designed, fabricated, and inspected at our Portland, Oregon manufacturing facility.
In-House CAD Design, Your Floor Plan, Perfected Before a single piece of metal is cut, our in-house designer creates a complete floor plan based on your concept. You approve it. Then we build it. No surprises.
Built to Code, In Every State We Serve WA L&I certification, California state code compliance, Oregon standards, we know what inspectors look for in every market we serve and we build accordingly. Your trailer arrives ready to pass, not hoping to.
Family-Owned, 25+ Years We’re not a private equity portfolio company optimizing for quarterly returns. We’re a family business with a 25-year reputation that we protect on every single build.
Solar-Ready Innovation Off-grid events. Battery backup capability. Sustainability goals. Our solar-ready builds give you the flexibility to operate where the power grid doesn’t reach.
Full Project Management One team. From your first consultation call to the day you drive off our lot, you have a dedicated project manager keeping your build on track.
From Idea To Open For Business, Here's How It Works
Building a custom food trailer sounds complex. We’ve made it straightforward.
Free Consultation & Custom Quote
Tell us what you need. We'll walk you through options, layouts, and pricing, no pressure, no fluff.
Contract + 50% Down Payment
Once you're ready to proceed, we formalize the project with a signed contract and initial down payment to kick off production.
In-House CAD Design
Our in-house designer creates a full floor plan based on your vision, typically ready within 1–2 weeks. You review and approve before a single piece of metal is cut.
Health Department Pre-Approval
While your trailer is in production, you submit our plan set to your Washington health department for pre-approval. If they have questions, we answer them directly.
Build Complete, Inspected & Ready to Roll
Your trailer passes WA L&I inspection at our facility. You pick it up, or we help coordinate third-party transport to your Washington location.
- Most standard builds complete in 2–3 months. Complex builds (pizza trailers, porch trailers) may vary, ask during your consultation.
Serve Up Success, Your Custom Food Trailer Is More Accessible Than You Think
One of the most common reasons serious food entrepreneurs delay starting isn’t lack of passion or a bad concept, it’s the upfront investment question. We’ve heard it thousands of times.
That’s why we’ve built relationships with experienced food trailer financing specialists who can help you move forward:
✅ Simple, straightforward application ✅ Fast preapproval decisions ✅ Built for first-time buyers and scaling operators alike ✅ Pair with local credit unions for additional flexibility
Our payment structure keeps cash flow manageable throughout your build: 50% to start, 40% at mid-build, balance on completion.

Lets Get Started
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a custom food trailer and how is it different from a standard concession trailer?
A custom food trailer is designed and built specifically around your food concept, menu, and operational needs, rather than pulled off a shelf. At Quality Trailers, every build starts with an in-house CAD-designed floor plan tailored to your workflow, equipment specifications, and local code requirements. Standard trailers are generic; custom trailers are purpose-built for your business.
How much does a custom food trailer cost?
Pricing depends on trailer size, equipment specifications, build complexity, and custom features. We build everything from lean starter trailers to full-scale mobile commercial kitchens. The best way to get an accurate number is to request a free consultation and quote, we’ll give you a real number based on your actual requirements, not a vague range.
How long does it take to build a custom food trailer?
Standard food trailer builds typically take 2–3 months from your 50% down payment. More complex builds, such as pizza trailers, porch trailers, or specialty configurations, may require extended lead time. Your sales manager will give you a specific timeline during your initial consultation.
What are the payment terms for a custom food trailer order?
We require a 50% down payment to begin the project, 40% upon final shop entry, and the remaining balance upon completion. All payment terms are outlined in your contract. Financing options are available through our third-party lending partners for buyers who need assistance managing the upfront investment.
Do you build food trailers to meet state code requirements outside of Oregon?
Yes. We build to California state code, Washington L&I standards, and support compliance for operators in states throughout the country. Every build includes a complete plan set created by our in-house designer for your health department pre-approval submission, and we work with inspectors directly if questions arise.
Can I finance a custom food trailer purchase?
Yes. Financing is available through our trusted third-party lending partners who specialize in food trailer funding. You can also work with local credit unions or any financing source of your choice. Contact us to be connected with a financing specialist who can fast-track your preapproval.
Do I have to pick up my trailer in Portland, Oregon?
Factory pickup is our standard process. However, if you need your trailer delivered, we can connect you with experienced third-party transportation companies who handle food trailer delivery nationwide. Many of our out-of-state customers use this option, including buyers in Washington, California, and Hawaii.
Can I supply my own commercial kitchen equipment for installation?
Yes. We install customer-supplied cooking and refrigeration equipment at $450 per piece. Equipment installation includes gas connections, testing, securing, and venting as required. Electric cooking equipment under a hood may require an additional $350 shunt-trip breaker installation. Contact us for a full installation quote.
What water systems come standard in a Quality Trailers food trailer?
Every trailer includes an 80-gallon fresh water tank installed inside under the cabinets, and a 135-gallon grey water tank mounted to the trailer frame below the chassis. Our NSF-listed water pump is factory-set at 45 PSI (adjustable 30–50 PSI) with one-way operation to prevent reverse flow.
What makes Quality Trailers different from other food trailer manufacturers?
Several things: 25+ years of manufacturing experience, in-house CAD design (not outsourced), our own Portland manufacturing facility, compliance expertise across multiple states, and a family-owned culture where reputation matters on every build. With 3,800+ trailers on the road and 50+ industry awards, our track record is our best argument.
